Sikkuy is a shared organization of Jewish and Arab citizens, working to implement full equality on all levels between the Arab Palestinian and Jewish citizens of Israel. Founded in 1991, Sikkuy works with the government, local authorities, and the public to achieve far-reaching change in government policy toward Arab citizens.
Targeting the underrepresentation of Arabs in Israeli media coverage, we measure discrimination, publish the data, and pinpoint those responsible. Pressure at the top has yielded more coverage of Arab society, but real equality is still a long way off
Promoting education for a shared society in the K-12 school system, and encouraging the Ministry of Education to prioritize its principles
Working to make public spaces in Israel shared and egalitarian, where the language, culture and identity of Arab citizens of Israel will be fully present
The A-LIST is a database for the Israeli media, offering instant access to Arab experts, articulate women and men with knowledge in diverse fields, all of them outstanding interview prospects from the Arab community
We work with Arab local authorities toward equality for Arab towns in transportation infrastructure development and planning, better public transportation services, and relevant policy changes at government ministries
We promote a policy of fair representation for Arab men and women in government service, government companies, and public service overall, with equal opportunity to rise to more senior ranks and greater representation of Arab women
We initiated an innovative policy to expand employment in Arab society via proactive changes in government procurement, to raise the demand for Arab workers in the private sector job market.
We prod government ministries and assist Arab local authorities to ameliorate the housing crisis in Arab towns, implement Government Resolution 922, remove barriers to development and insure equal allocation of resources
Removing barriers to enable construction of thousands of childcare centers now lacking in Arab towns, in cooperation with local authorities, and changing government ministries’ policies
We work with the Regional Council of Unrecognized Villages for more access to educational and public transportation services for Arab Bedouin citizens in the Negev’s unrecognized and newly recognized villages
Government Resolution 922 will greatly remedy unequal budgeting for Arab towns, if fully rolled out. We prod government ministries to remove barriers and increase support for Arab local authorities.
Sikkuy needs your support in order to advance an equal and shared society. With each donation we get one step closer to equality.
