NIF Outside Israel

NIF New York hosted its 11th Annual New Generations Benefit on Wednesday, June 14, at the Maritime Hotel's Hiro Ballroom.  Attended by nearly 400 people, the benefit raised $116,000 for NIF's work building civil society in Israel.

NIF and JCRC co-sponsored a panel on "The Trouble with Equality" at Temple Beth Zion in Brookline , MA , on May 24. Long-time NIF supporter and former NIF Board member Arthur Waldstein introduced the panel, which included presentations by Shuli Dichter and Ali Haider, co-executive directors of NIF grantee Sikkuy, The Association for Civic Equality in Israel . Seventy people attended this first public discussion in Boston on the push for equality for Israel's Arab citizens.

On May 22, Aaron Back, director of the Ford Foundation Israel Fund, spoke in Los Angeles at the home of Sara and Bob Cannon (Sara is a member of NIF's International Council) to a group of NIF donors about the $20 million 5-year gift of the Ford Foundation to NIF.  Aaron described the origin of the grant, why Ford selected NIF to be its partner in Israel and his top 10 list of the 10 reasons NIF is one of the most important and effective organizations on the Israeli scene.
